How can I describe this? Well, I'm a native New Yorker living in Berlin and I'm a fashion designer. This blog will have all my experiences with design as well as discussions about things I see that move me. Basically, it's a blog about having fun with fashion.

Get Up Into The Gatsby
Spring and summer is a great time for movies, but anticipation is riding high for one movie in particular. It's Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" with Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, and Isla Fischer. Baz Luhrmann is know for his over the top style and details in his movies. "Moulin Rouge" and "Romeo And Juliet" are two examples of his most amazing style and attention to detail.
As a fashion designer and a fan of movies, you know I had to get into what everyone was wearing. The costume and production design was done by Catherine Martin. Love it!!!! She kept the look true to the book and gave it a slightly darker edge.
The original version of "The Great Gatsby" with Robert Redford and Mia Farrow (the one I remember from my childhood) was beautiful and very romantic looking visually (lots of soft focus shots). Great film, but I have a feeling that there will be some interesting differences to Baz's.
Movies also bring forth a lot of inspiration. Brooks Brothers have come out with a capsule collection inspired by "The Great Gatsby". Here are a few shots:
I am so looking forward to this movie when it opens on May 10th. The music is up to date as well, but with a twenties feel. Here is a sampler of the music on the soundtrack. http://youtu.be/5snA5TEse9w
Stay fashionable and sexy!!!!!
